Maximize Your Potential, Unleash Your Ability at Prairie View

Carmel’s Prairie View Golf ClubAs the only Robert Trent Jones, Jr.-designed golf course in the state of Indiana, Carmel’s Prairie View Golf Club is by default in elite company when compared to other golf facilities.

But Prairie View’s commitment to constructing players sound in all aspects of the game, in addition to its 18-hole championship golf course set upon 206 acres of rolling prairies, and serene wetlands, undisturbed by residential development, solidifies the facility’s standing as one of the most complete and dynamic in all of Indiana.

Considered one of the state’s premier daily-fee layouts, Prairie View Golf Course is a 7,073-yard classic design characterized by abundant natural beauty. Golfers will be treated to views of towering sycamores and oaks, sounds of clear running streams and billowing native grasses that transform an afternoon on the course into an almost surreal experience.

Prairie View’s head golf professional Darren Thomas says golfers will definitely be able to differentiate between the two nines at his course.

“The front nine is a little bit more open,“ he said. It’s considered the prairie side and isn’t quite as tree-lined. The back nine offers more views, it’s more tree-lined and situated along the river. The inward nine has more of a Michigan feel.”

A dedicated superintendent keeps the golf course in pristine condition year-round, while a staff of certified professionals at the Prairie View Golf Training Academy strives to do the same with golfers, even during the depths of winter.

Today maximizing your potential as a player requires a convergence of ability, preparation, fitness, technological savvy and an intimate knowledge of the golf swing. At Prairie View’s top-notch training academy, instruction is based on an all-encompassing, holistic approach to the game of golf.

In order to unleash a golfer’s natural ability, the staff at the academy concentrates on club fitting, golf instruction and physical fitness with an understanding of how one element of their program is interdependent on the others.

Prairie View Golf Club

“We have everything for the golfer in one location,” said Thomas. “We even have two doctors who work with students and clients, plus club fitters and great instructors. Everything is golf specific and we all work together.

“If I have a student who can’t do things during instruction because his swing is hampered by his limited flexibility, we’ll work on improving that on the fitness side,“ Thomas added. “If someone isn’t playing the right equipment, we’ll send them to the fitters.”

During the winter months or periods of inclement weather, Prairie View students have the luxury of using indoor hitting bays that open to the course, which enables ball flight tracking. That’s just one example of the attention to detail that makes Prairie View a state-of-the-art facility.

Prairie View has been home to a men’s club since 1998. Members are offered an opportunity to compete in 24 weeks of tournaments, which take place every Wednesday from April to October. For pricing and information, please visit www.prairieviewgc.com.

The golf club grounds are also popular for outings and weddings. The course is capable of handling any size outing, but space is limited on the 2009 calendar, so don’t delay in booking your event. Prairie View offers the finest amenities to its guests, and can help tournament organizers with pairings, format and scheduling. The staff can also provide cart signs, scorecards, scoreboard, proximity markers, hole-in-one insurance, gift certifi cates, and summary lists. The View Pointe Grill is available to serve your dining needs.

A beautiful setting, unlimited outdoor space and an ample indoor seating area, plus one of Indiana’s finest clubhouses have combined to make Prairie View a popular wedding destination over the years. Call (317) 446-1690 for more information on holding your special ceremony at the club.

All of this information and more is available on Prairie View’s Web site (www.prairieviewgc.com), which has recently been redesigned, making it more interactive and easier to navigate. Visitors to the site will be able to participate in community forums, read about online golf specials, watch video lessons and discover everything the golf course has to offer.

You’ll be hard pressed to find a more complete golf facility than Prairie View Golf Club, a location that truly offers everything a golfer could want under one roof.
